CSI 2008 Call for Papers

CSI 2008 Call for Papers is now closed.

CSI 2008 will be held November 15-21 in Washington, D.C. and will attract security professionals from around the world- The event and the experience is generated by people like you, dealing with the most relevant topics that are impacting security professionals today.

Conference Structure
The conference consists of approximately 100 sessions, divided into 10 tracks.
  • Sessions
Sessions are typically 60 minutes in length, including Q & A; there are also a few CSI Field Note Sessions, also 60 minutes in length and Fast Track sessions 25 minutes in length. You are welcome to submit for session of any length.

  • CSI Field Note Sessions
These are modeled after the "case method" teaching approaches employed by business and law schools since the turn of the twentieth century. You need not have experience teaching with cases in order to offer an abstract. But you must be prepared to write a short (3-5 page) case, where you tell a story about a real (or at least drawn from reality) organization that is faced with a security related problem. The case (or associated materials) must provide a clear view of the problem. During the session, you'll guide a discussion of what can be learned from the materials and what appropriate actions the organization might take in response to them. Contact Director Robert Richardson (rrichardson@cmp.com) with specific questions about this format.

  • Fast Track Sessions
The Fast Track is meant to introduce fresh news, ideas, findings, and tools in a concise, time-conscious way. The presentation format for these submissions should be 25 minutes in length.

Selection Criteria
Competition is high for speaking slots at the CSI Conference. We typically are able to only select about 1 in 10 of the submissions, so we urge you to make sure yours follows our guidelines, and accurately reflects the strength of your experience and expertise. Each submission is rated based on the abstract's concept, depth, organization and speaker's credentials. In addition, if you have previously presented at a CSI conference, the CSI Conference Selection Committee will also weigh in your evaluation results from previous presentations.

Speaker Benefits
As a speaker, you will receive a complimentary Conference Badge. This badge gives you access to all classes, keynotes, panels, roundtables and special events. Additionally, speakers will receive extensive exposure in the CSI Conference Catalog (received by 125,000 information security professionals), the CSI Show Guide and Directory and on the CSI Conference website. Speaking at CSI 2008 allows you the chance to meet and network with fellow faculty, colleagues, and industry press.

Speaking Obligations
When you agree to speak at the conference you are making a commitment to come well prepared and to speak on the topic you proposed. The submitter also agrees to be available to present his/her session during any day of the conference (November 17-19, 2008). As part of your speaking obligation, you are required to provide a suitable presentation that will be included in the conference CD-ROM and will be posted to the CSI Conference website. Upon acceptance, you will be notified of the deadline for your materials.

Submission Guidelines
If your abstract is accepted, you will be notified by May 2008. Rejection notices will not be sent out until late-June. Accepted abstracts and faculty bios will be published in the CSI course catalog and on the CSI Conference website. Acceptance of your abstract does not include compensation for your participation or for your travel expenses.
