Guidelines to Structuring Your Submission
There are several elements that are important when structuring your submission.

The "Presentation Abstract" section is your opportunity to describe to the Conference Selection Committee what's special about the session you propose. What will attendees say they got from this session (its takeaways)? What ideas will they have not previously encountered? Why are you the right person to lead the session? Again, you will have 130 words for this section. Be sure to include:
  • Concept: This is the basic idea of your proposal. Is it interesting? Is it relevant? Will it be beneficial for security information professionals to hear?
  • Organization: Are your ideas organized in a fashion conducive to present in front of an audience? Will the Conference Selection Committee "follow" what you are trying to say? Organization helps, but please no outlines.
  • Credentials: How do your credentials qualify you to speak on the topic you have proposed? Sessions must focus on independent education. Sessions containing any product, tool, or service sales pitch will not be accepted. Practitioners are strongly encouraged to submit abstracts. Case studies are also highly encouraged.

The "Presentation Synopsis" is a simplified version of your abstract that, if selected, will be printed in the Conference Catalog and posted on the Conference Website. Attendees will base much of their interest for your session on this synopsis, so it is important that your synopsis contains all of the most essential information to promote your session. You only have 50 words for your synopsis.

Speaker Notification
You will receive automatic e-mail notification once your proposal(s) is submitted. You will also have the opportunity to modify your proposal(s) up until the submission deadline. Once all abstracts are reviewed, speaker selections will be made in May 2008. We will not notify speakers of rejected abstracts until late June. Accepted abstracts and speaker bios will be published in our course catalog and on our website. Please note, that an invitation to speak does not include compensation or that Computer Security Institute (CSI) will be responsible for your expenses.
